JLLA is a fresh landscape design studio specialising in urban and rural residential projects and creating beautiful outdoor spaces. Each project is thoughtfully designed, referencing the unique qualities of the site including the existing architecture, aspect, surrounding context and the local vegetation. The studio fosters a creative and collaborative approach to achieve the client’s brief and to deliver practical spaces that are highly desirable to spend time in.

Principal Landscape Architect

James Lascelles

Ba. Design (Hons) Landscape Architecture, RMIT University

Having a passion for the outdoors, James brings over 12 years of experience working as a landscape architect to the studio. James developed an interest in landscape architecture while working with plants in the nursery industry, and retains a keen interest in botany and careful plant selection. Working in a range of practices throughout Australia and the UK, he has been involved with a multitude of projects ranging in scale from small courtyard gardens to large country estates, and from Melbourne to Moscow. While in London, James was involved in the design and construction of several gold-winning Chelsea Show Gardens. He also obtained his chartership during this time, becoming a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (U.K). More recently, he has specialised in swimming pool design with many of the award-winning projects involving the design of architectural forms such as pool-houses and sheltered outdoor entertaining areas.
