Getting Started

Once our fee proposal has been accepted, we get in touch to organise an on-site meeting to discuss your requirements and form up a brief

This gives us a chance to carry out site analysis : site photos, ascertaining the site's qualities and constraints, as well as the surrounding conditions

What we'll need from you is the following:

  • a scaled or dimensioned site plan and house floor plans (if you don't have a scaled plan we can assist in organising a surveyor to carry out a site survey)

  • survey information with levels or contours, particularly if the property is on a significant slope

  • any design ideas that you may already have that you may wish to have incorporated in to the scheme

  • an indication from you of your budget for the works (we can help advise on this)

The Exciting Bit

This is Stage 1, the Concept Design stage, where your new landscape design is visulalised. Our outputs from this stage include:

  • 3d computer generated images of the proposed design

  • a scaled and annotated AutoCAD plan drawing

  • a selection of suggested materials and precedent images

  • a selection of suggested plants for the project

At the completion of this stage we will arrange a meeting with you to run through the design together and discuss relevant issues and costs involved.

Following this meeting, we invite your feedback and comments, enabling us to prepare a Final Concept Plan, marking the end of the first design stage

All About The Detail

Stage 2, Design Documentation, involves detailing your design to a highly accurate level to deliver an exceptionally high-quality result. All aspects of your design are documented so that they can be costed and built by the landscape contractor.

All finishes, materials, specifications, dimensions and colours will be specified as part of this design stage

This design stage includes a full planting plan and a landscape lighting plan

Following the production of these documents, we organise another meeting to discuss and confirm all materials and landscape details.

At the end of this stage we are ready to send the project out for pricing. James Lascelles Landscape Architecture can oversee the tender process on your behalf.

Need a Permit?

Some design elements, such as swimming pools and built structures, may require a town planning permit from the local council. We will ascertain whether one is required, prepare the necessary documentation, submit the application and liaise with the council on our client’s behalf.

Plants, Pots & Furniture

With a multitude of trade relationships within the wholesale nursery industry, we can procure the best quality plants from the top plant growers.

We also regularly liaise with pot & planter retailers as well as the best outdoor furniture suppliers to supply your project the perfect final touch.

Maintenance

It doesn't end there! A garden is ever-evolving. We can assist in producing a customised maintenance schedule broken down month-by-month, and source the most suitable maintenance team so that the landscape continues to thrive year round and into the future.

Under Construction

As works commence on site, there will invariably be questions that arise and possible changes that are required. James Lascelles Landscape Architecture is on-hand where required to ensure the project has the best outcome and client satisfaction.
